This year’s harvest: Overcoming challenges and achieving great results

Once again, we have successfully completed the olive processing and are delighted to share with you our first impressions of this year’s oil. As you know, each harvest has its own story, and this one was particularly interesting.

Although we harvested a record amount of olives this year, the oil yields were significantly lower than expected. The reason for this lies in the extremely dry summer followed by a rainy September. Such weather conditions affected the composition of the fruit, which contained a large amount of water, directly affecting the decrease in oil yields.

We have particularly noted lower yields for the Buža variety, which is known for its sensitivity to changes in weather conditions. Buža is a well-known indigenous Istrian variety that is the most common in our olive grove.

Despite the challenges, we are proud of the quality of this year’s oil, which we produced in cooperation with the Torač oil mill in Žbandaj. Their new production line has enabled us to process our olives even more efficiently and preserve all the aromas and flavors of this precious fruit.

We have already started tasting the oil and the results are above our expectations. The taste is intense, with recognizable notes of freshly cut grass and almonds, which is characteristic of our extra virgin olive oil.

This year, as always, we have ensured that every step in the production process is carefully monitored, from harvesting to bottling. Our goal is always the same – to produce top-quality olive oil that will delight even the most demanding palates.

We will soon present you with the official results of the oil quality analysis.
